A quick check-in a few times a day, with a score from 1 to 10. Over time you'll see what lifts your mood and what drags it down.
After each score you can get a short message in a style you like. Pick any (they get mixed), or none.
Set a PIN to lock the app and encrypt your diary on this device. You can also do this later in Settings.

Your diary, journal and photos are stored encrypted with your PIN, and so is the sync file. A longer PIN makes it much harder to crack. If you forget the PIN, the diary on this device can't be recovered (use a backup file). Backup files are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere private.
Get a message after you save a score, matched to how you feel. Pick one or more styles (they get mixed), or none to turn it off.
Your messages appear as the "My messages" style above. Tap ☆ on any message to make it a favorite. Favorites come up 3× as often.
Tip: add the Mood Diary widget to your home screen (long-press the home screen → Widgets) to log with one tap.

Removing a tag doesn't remove it from past entries.
Asked once a day on the score screen. Patterns then shows how each one goes with your mood.
A notification at a set time, with a button to mark it done for the day.
See how sunshine, rain, temperature and the length of the day go with your mood. Your town is sent to Open-Meteo, a free weather service, to look up the weather. Nothing from your diary is sent.
Put the sync file in a cloud folder (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox…), then link the same file on your other device. Each device merges its changes into the file automatically.
Your entries are stored only on this device. Restoring merges the backup with what's here: the newest version of each entry wins, and entries you deleted on the other device are removed here too. Use a backup file to move your diary between phone and computer. Backups include journal photos, and they are not encrypted.
